A Grain of Truth
Under the boardwalk was playing and it did seem very apt
As I asked you to come under the pier with me and for once I didn't get slapped.
The sky was filled with starlight; our passion flared then soared,
and though we heard our friends call out, their warnings were ignored.

The pound in my pocket is worth 50p
The price at the bowser has soared.
The pub and the wine bar, once regular treats,
I suddenly cannot afford.

I Held You
We danced beside the river as the sun broke through the mist,
In the warming of the morning, I held you and we kissed.
And later that same afternoon, I held you as you slept,
Then you had to leave me and I held you as you wept.

Old Tom cat was loitering
around the garden pond,
watching fishes teasing him.
Too lazy to respond.

The boss said I asked far too much.
He said. 'You can't claim for the light bulbs.'
I said. 'You are right out of touch.'
